Footsteps

A personal development course for children and young people.

Footsteps is structured to be adapted to a range of settings and ages. The course uses creative and practical techniques to challenge and encourage the group to grow. Footsteps can be tailored to the relevant needs of the group and uses tried and tested session plans. The sessions are delivered by a member of our staff team over an agreed period of time. Footsteps is suitable for young people who may be seen as low achievers, have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities or struggle to cope in a structured environment. The themes it can focus on are:

  • Conflict and anger management
  • Exam stress
  • Healthy and safe relationships
  • Team work
  • Confidence and self-esteem building
  • Social skills
  • Employability skills
  • Interview techniques
  • Body language
  • Gangs culture
  • British Values and diversity

We are also able to adapt the course to work with higher achievers and mixed ability young people. All of our staff have extensive experience of working with students and young people who struggle with a structured school environment, hold varying teaching qualifications and hold an Enhanced DBS check.

Students have stated that they feel their confidence has grown and that GCSE pressured have been dealt with and worked on.

I think it went really well and Jodie [A Mind Apart staff] really warmed to us and gave us the confidence. The sessions were epic.
