With A Mind Apart being born on the beaches of Brazil, it seems only natural that we work with partners in Olinda, Brazil. Our partner’s ‘My Father’s House’ work with children and young people in a favela in the North East of the country. Not only do they run an orphanage for boys, but they also have a school and various other projects in the heart of one of the poorest areas in the city, and a farm on the outskirts that is used to offer family and community retreats and drug rehabilitation.
We love the work done by this project, and regularly visit to deliver workshops and courses to the children and the young people in their projects and community. Our work has also included training two children and youth worker’s from this community for six months in the UK, as well as delivering our Using Creative Techniques when Working with Challenging Behaviours course to local agency workers in Recife.
We intend to build this link further over the next few years and are progressively spending more time in Brazil developing our work there. In the meantime, if you would like to know more about the work our partners do in Brazil, you can visit their facebook page by clicking their logo on this page.
